Healthy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
These Healthy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies are the perfect treat with a big glass of fresh cold milk.
These healthy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are a family favorite cookie at our house. I haven’t been making them as much lately as I did when my kids were little.
When I do make them they are still a big hit with the family. And they always ask why I don’t make them more often.
My kids grew up on these homemade oatmeal cookies and I felt good about feeding them these.
These cookies are definitely one of our all-time favorite cookie recipes.
I have changed up a few of the ingredients that you might normally use in a classic oatmeal cookie to make these a healthier treat.
Cookie Ingredient Choices, Substitutions and Variations
I decided to make some changes to the typical Oatmeal cookie recipe in order to use some healthier ingredients.
This recipe will work with these substitutions that I made or feel free to make your own substitutions. These easy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies will be delicious either way.
Flour: Instead of the usual all purpose flour I used freshly milled whole wheat pastry flour. Another good choice would be sprouted whole wheat or other whole wheat flours.
Sugar: I chose to use sucanat instead of white sugar or light or dark brown sugar. Sucanat is just a less processed cane sugar. Turbinado or coconut sugar would also work in this easy recipe.
Oats: I like to use old-fashioned oats not quick oats in this recipe.
Salt: sea salt or mineral salt
Chocolate Chips: I used semi-sweet chocolate chips in my recipe but you could use milk chocolate chips or even chocolate chunks for extra chocolate goodness.

Storing Your Homemade Oatmeal Cookies
Cookies can be stored in an airtight container or zip-top bag for several days.
They never last that long in our house. We like to enjoy them straight from the oven, after cooling slightly, with a nice big glass of fresh milk.
I feel sure these cookies will become a new favorite for your family too!
